  Day of the tour and I texted Dolores (aka Dee-Dee) to just check in and she had no idea about our expensive private tour for four booked and fully paid for months in advance. We got nothing but excuses and misinformation from her end. Our experience was very similar to what happened to Smoke1664 (earlier review) Thank goodness I checked with her early so we could make other arrangements. Thank goodness even more that we booked through ToursbyLocals.com who were shocked by her unprofessional handling of our booked tour. They reimbursed us fully and have removed Dee-Dee from their website.

  The title of this review pretty much gives you an idea of how our trip started out on Martha's Vineyard. We arrived on the Vineyard via Ferry, walked around a bit, and then stopped for lunch before our Island tour. We had been in contact via email the week leading up to our scheduled tour and even spoke with the owner over the phone the day prior to make sure everyone was on the same page. We were confirmed for a 2 hour Jaws tour that was to start at 1:15 pm. We arrived 15 minutes early to the scheduled pickup location and waited. The bus showed up 15 minutes late at roughly 1:30 pm and unloaded its passengers from the previous tour. The driver of our tour (also the owner), proceeded to ask us about our tour, stating she thought we had agreed to a 2:00 pm start time. She then started mentioning how we wanted to see sites that we hadn't agreed upon, and seemed very confused about what we actually wanted to do and also about her own company in general. For a minute I wondered if she was confused about who we were or even if we had the correct tour bus. We showed her the previous texts and email correspondence to refresh her memory. Once she realized that we knew her company screwed up somewhere along the line, she said that she needed to take care of an emergency real quick and promised us she would be back at 2:00 pm to pick us up. So now we were expected to wait another 30 minutes or so with a party of 11, including 3 smaller children after we had already been waiting for 30-40 min at the stop. We proceeded to ask her what was going on and all she could say was that she had to take care of an emergency, but she couldn't tell us what was going on or any details at all. She then proceed to get real defensive and angry with us and raising her voice. As everyone is standing around in confusion and disbelief, she gets in the bus and abruptly leaves us all just standing there. We get a text about 15 minutes later from her supposed secretary that says one of the drivers in the company had an elderly family member pass, so all tours had been canceled for the day. If this was the truth, I have no idea why the owner couldn't pass on this information while she was standing in front of us. I was also puzzled as to why she told us to wait there and she would be back at 2 pm for our tour. Nothing was adding up at all. Obviously we all understand that emergencies happen and somethings you have no control over, but the lack of communication in combination with everything else that happened in that short amount of time, is just unacceptable business practice. Just know that if you schedule a tour with this company you may find your self stranded like we were. Luckily we were able to book another tour almost immediately with Martha Vineyards Tours and Excursions who were AWESOME!!! They charged us the same price, were on time, very friendly, and were very knowledgeable of the area. I would highly recommend them if you're looking for a great 2-3 hour tour of the Vineyard.

  Didi was an amazing tour guide and gave us many insider secrets and tons of info on our personal Jaws tour. She even had a surprise up her sleeve! My husband hasn’t stopped talking about our amazing tour and wonderful tour guide. The weather was terrible but it didn’t matter, it was still an awesome experience! I want to do it again with friends. Thanks Didi for making our first trip to Martha’s Vineyard an amazing one with lots of Jaws memories!
